Fishing
Fishing in Flyff Universe: the bait decides the grade of the fish. Bait, rods, large fish and how many casts a rod lasts.
Fishing works differently from other gathering: you can fish anywhere. The grade of the fish does not depend on the region but on the bait.
| Bait | Grade | Price | Durability per cast | Casts with Finest Fishing Rod |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Low-class Bait | C | 2,000 Penya | 1 | 500 |
| Middle-class Bait | B | 5,000 Penya | 5 | 100 |
| Upper-class Bait | A | 10,000 Penya | 7 | 71 |
Every cast uses as much rod durability as the bait states. A Finest Fishing Rod (500) therefore lasts 500 casts with Low-class Bait but only 71 with Upper-class Bait.
Rods and large fish
| Rod | Price | Success | Large fish | Durability |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fishing Rod | 100,000 Penya | 20% | 5% | 50 |
| Well-maintained Fishing Rod | 750,000 Penya | 30% | 6% | 100 |
| New Fishing Rod | 5,000,000 Penya | 40% | 8% | 300 |
| Finest Fishing Rod | 20,000,000 Penya | 50% | 10% | 500 |
Better rods have a higher success chance and a higher chance of a large fish. Large fish are separate ingredients; some recipes have a variant for them.
Every fish page calculates the average casts per fish, casts per rod and bait cost per piece: Fish.
What does one fish cost?
Every cast costs one bait plus rod durability. Per fish caught that is (bait price + rod price ÷ casts per rod) ÷ success chance:
| Rod | C: Low-class Bait | B: Middle-class Bait | A: Upper-class Bait |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fishing Rod | 20,000 | 75,000 | 121,429 |
| Well-maintained Fishing Rod | 31,667 | 141,667 | 211,905 |
| New Fishing Rod | 46,667 | 220,833 | 322,619 |
| Finest Fishing Rod | 84,000 | 410,000 | 583,380 |
With Upper-class Bait the rod becomes the biggest cost: a Finest Fishing Rod only lasts 71 casts with it. For grade A fish the basic rod is much cheaper per fish – it just needs more casts.
